The Ghostly Lady in Glass

(Actual Picture of The Lady In Glass)
A field trip with my English teacher and
another student turned out to be more
than just a fun-filled adventure.  If you
love cemeteries, then you will be dying
to read this true account of the ghostly
Lady in Glass of Jamestown NY.  A
story that will send a chill down your
spine and put an extra jump in your
step!  This is for every cemetery buff!

I was able to get on my English teachers
good side back in 1983 by writing a paper
he found captivating.  I was chosen with
another student to go out to lunch and
then visit Lakeview Cemetery for a
startling surprise!  While eating lunch,
we discussed visiting the Lake View
Cemetery.  My curosity was peeked, by
wondering what would happen to myself
and the other student.  My crazy
imagination pictured myself getting hit in
the head with a pipe and buried alive in a
coffin in Lake View Cemetery

Back then anything was possible to me
and my Engish teacher was just a touch
eccentric.  He made us put five cents into the "I can't jar!"  Everytime anyone said, "I can't" his jar would start filling up.  Oops! I just said I can't!  As we entered the Lake View Cemetery, I noticed how big this cemetery really was.  You could get lost in this cemetery at night, which gave me an idea for a scary movie!  I could not help enjoying the freshly cut grass and the beautifully made statues.

It would be a great place for a date with a sexy hot Goth girl!  After about 10 minutes of walking, we finally approached what is called, "The Lady in Glass."   I never had seen anything like this in my life and she was stunning to look at!  The pictures you see on this web page is the actual picture of, "The Lady in Glass."  I think it would be a real treat to see this at night and take a girl up there and
scare her pants off!
The name of "The Ghostly Lady in Glass" is Grace Galloway and her father was a wealthy man who made his riches in oil fields.  Another interesting point is she was the only daughter.  According to one site online she was a promising opera singer, who appeared at the Chautauqua Institution.  I have been to Chautauqua Institution and it is a wonderful place to visit.  Many well-known stars such as Kenny Rogers have graced the presence of the Chautauqua Institution.  Grace Galloway contracted tuberculosis and died on November 2, 1898 less than a year after contracting the disease.

Her father had an artist recreate Grace's figure in clay using her last picture. A model and the dress were sent to Florence, Italy to be carved in marble.  This guy did not hold back on giving his little girl the ultimate burial monument!  If your dying to see the Ghostly Lady in Glass, then visit The Lake View Cemetery in Jamestown New York.  She is located in the middle of the cemetery.  It will take you a while to find her, so get there early in the morning!  If it becomes night, the cemetery may not let you leave...Click Here to Watch a Scary Movie!

FACT: The statue was enclosed in glass, when it became evident that the elements would eventually destroy the statue.

Below is an interesting video of some great camera work on the road.  Watch closely and you will see an image crossing the road, of what appears to be a ghost or is it?  I was expecting to see Bigfoot run across the road, with a bloody deer dangling from its mouth!  You might have to watch this video a couple of times!  Forward this to a friend right now and creep them out!
According to what I researched online the following myths have been shared for years.  One myth, is she continues to roam the cemetery late at night crying for her lost love.  The second myth, I find deeply enticing, is some believe the body of Grace Galloway is encased in the statue itself!  From seeing the statue myself, It is life-size and it has been said online, to be her exact size.  The father wanted ever detail to keep her memory alive, but is there more to this Ghostly Lady in Glass?
