Welcome horror fans!
When talking about Italian horror films, two names will come popping up! A serious horror buff will almost always mention Dario Argento and Lucio Fulci. Both film makers are true masters of horror in every sense. Dario Argento may be more well-known, but one must never forget the powerful influence of Fulci's work. I've watched just about every one of Dario Argento's films and his giallo's are magnificent. Bird With The Crystal Plumage should be required viewing for the ever curious horror freak. Argento was in his prime when he was making his earlier films. Deep Red and Tenebre have left an indelible stain on my mind of giallo greatness! The crazy camera angles and the use of blood were to die for...literally!
The kill scenes were way ahead of there time and the music was and still is unforgettable. It seems that today, many horror directors and writers have lost touch with understanding what makes a good story. Many horror directors today can not even come close to the filming brilliance of Argento's past masterpieces. This new generation of film makers need to look back in the past and dig up those golden nuggets of true horror. When I think of good giallo's, I think of Dario Argento's work and wonder what are cinema would be like today, if we had a newer Argento mindset making movies. Dario has since lost his appeal with his newer movies, especially after Opera, it goes down hill after that and does not recover.
On a good note, Dario Argento has forever changed my view of horror and left me with a pleasant and exciting experience. Something that I want to pass on to those looking to learn more about him and his legacy. Thank you Mr. Argento for making movies that will be talked about for generations to come and hopefully may influence other horror film makers. Grab this one on DVD or Blue-ray today!
